It is a perfect blend of comfort and heritage.
Thanksgiving weekend is an ideal time to walk Duke of Gloucester Street. Lanterns glow, fireplaces crackle and historical interpreters bring the past to life. This quiet peaceful walk is something Marianne enjoys every year. She loves having dinner with friends in Merchant’s Square then strolling the Colonial district admiring the beautiful holiday decorations that make the season feel warm and nostalgic.
Held Thanksgiving weekend, this event highlights how early Virginians prepared for the harvest season. Hearthside cooking demonstrations and hands on experiences make it a favorite for families who love history and tradition.
Grand Illumination is one of the most cherished holiday celebrations in Virginia and it is a favorite among several members of our team. Amie loves it most of all especially because her son marches with the Fifes and Drums. Multiple performances fill the evening with excitement and the fireworks are simply unforgettable. Patti also treasures this event, enjoying it from her own secret viewing spot with a warm cup of hot cider.
Christmas Town dazzles with millions of lights festive shows winter treats and charming themed villages. It is a yearly tradition for several members of our team. Kyleen and Robin look forward to it every season and Dr. Johnston loves going to Christmas Town with the family making it a fun and memorable part of their holiday celebrations. Robin also enjoys pairing her visit with Williamsburgs Christmas markets after kicking off her season at the annual Christmas Parade a tradition she has loved for over thirty years.
Touring the Governor's Palace during the holiday season feels like stepping into a Christmas card. The natural greenery, fruit wreaths and traditional decorations make it a must see.
With artisan crafts, warm beverages, seasonal bites and festive entertainment the Williamsburg Christmas Market brings a European style celebration to the heart of town. It’s also a favorite stop for Kyleen and Robin during the holiday season.
This waterfront parade transforms the York River into a glowing spectacle with boats trimmed in sparkling lights. It is a classic local favorite and a wonderful family outing.
For families with little ones Santa’s Workshop is magical. It is one of Erica’s cherished traditions to take her son there for Christmas photos each year. As he grows, they will enjoy even more Williamsburg holiday events such as the parade and Christmas Town.
Though just outside Williamsburg Celebration in Lights is a favorite of Beckie's. She also loves exploring nearby neighborhoods that go all out for Christmas, especially Settlers Mill, where the trees sparkle with giant glowing globes. And of course she enjoys ice skating at the Pavilion and hot cider in Colonial Williamsburg during the season.
