What to Expect at Your First Norge Dental Center Visit

New to Norge Dental Center? We can’t wait to meet you! From the moment you walk through our doors, we strive to make your dental experience positive and better than you imagined. Our practice is probably a little different from others you may have visited, at least we hope so =). Here’s what you can expect.

Before You Arrive

Before your visit, we ask that you call your dental insurance company to see if our office is in-network. Norge Dental Center is part of the Delta Dental Premier Providers and Careington Network Providers groups. Because Careington Network carries a range of plans from many different insurance companies—including Anthem, Cigna, MetLife, and United Concordia—it’s hard to know for sure if your plan is in-network. If you can find out in advance, that will help us speed along your new patient paperwork and provide you with a clearer idea of how much your visit will cost. We know that finding answers to insurance questions can be confusing, so we’re always happy to help.

Your Personalized Experience

Don't get too cozy in our reception area, though you might find yourself wanting to, you won't be there for long. As soon as your care team is ready for you, one of our friendly hygienists will whisk you back to your private exam room, sterilized and prepared just for you. Do you have a favorite channel or music station?  Let us know and we will have it on for you. To make sure you are comfortable throughout your appointment, we’ll offer you a range of complimentary amenities. You can take your pick of headphones, relaxing music, a soft pillow, and blanket, or a lavender-scented eye mask. If you have any concerns during your visit, simply let your care team know.  Remember this visit is all about you. We hope to make you smile.

Dental Care and Treatment

Most first visits include a standard dental cleaning (though nothing here is standard) and comprehensive exam. First, your hygienist will begin by gently cleaning and polishing your teeth. Yes, we make sure your smile is pearly and shinny. Who doesn't love glossy teeth?  We will make sure you love yours!

As part of your initial exam, we often recommend patients receive a few different dental scans. These help your dentist get a sense of your baseline oral health and pinpoint any concerns. We use sophisticated technology to complete all your scans quickly and easily right within our office.

Once your cleaning and scans are complete, one of our friendly dentists will arrive to complete the exam.

A Gift From Us

After your exam is complete, your hygienist will give you a bag of our oral health must haves! Yes, we have selected every item to ensure you are off to a great start and your best smile yet!

And even better if you are lucky enough to be a child you get to adopt our little friend Douglas, he happens to be the tooth fairy's pet.  Visiting Norge Dental Center makes being a kid imaginative and fun!

We recommend that all of our patients schedule regular checkups and cleanings for good oral health. Your dentist will recommend a cadence that makes sense for you, whether that’s once every three, six, or 12 months. Before you leave, you can go ahead and schedule your next appointment with our friendly front desk staff.  Trust us, this is one appointment you will want to make.

Ready to schedule an appointment for you or a family member? Give us a call or fill out our contact form to book a time that’s convenient for you. We can’t wait to meet you!

It's National Children's Dental Health Month

February is National Children’s Dental Health Month. It’s a great reminder for parents and kids alike of the importance of pediatric dental care. It may surprise you to learn that tooth decay is the most common childhood chronic disease in the country. In fact, more than half of kids between six and eight years old have had a cavity in their primary, or baby, teeth. While a little cavity might not sound like a big deal, poor dental health is actually linked to higher rates of missed days and lower performance at school. Healthy teeth matter more than you might think!

Root Canals: What Are They, How to Prevent Them, and What to Expect if You Need One

If you have a vague sense of dread when you hear the term “root canal,” you’re not alone. Let’s face it, getting a root canal is not quite as enjoyable as a normal hygiene appointment. But the process is not as scary as it sounds. More often than not, root canals reduce, rather than cause, pain. So what exactly is a root canal and why might your dentist recommend one? We’ll answer that and other questions we receive about this common dental treatment.

Do I Really Need My Wisdom Teeth Removed

Third molars, or so-called wisdom teeth, often get a bad rap. That’s probably because people talk about them mostly in the context of people getting them removed. For many patients, wisdom tooth extraction is the only surgical dental procedure they have ever experienced. ‍But wisdom teeth themselves aren’t necessarily bad. In fact for some patients, they’re just like other teeth. So what’s the big deal with wisdom teeth anyway? And, why do so many people have them extracted? Let’s take a look at some of the most common questions we hear about this infamous set of teeth.
