Dental Sealants and how they make a difference!

From the Hygienist's Chair:What if you could prevent cavities from forming on your child's teeth? When was the last time you or a family member had a cavity?  What if you knew of a way to prevent this from happening? Would you even hesitate? The answer is nothing more than a Dental Sealant!! A sealant is a thin coating applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth. Even if a child brushes and flosses carefully, it is almost impossible to clean the deep hills and valleys on the back teeth. Food and bacteria build up in these tiny grooves and pits, placing the child in danger of tooth decay. Sealants seal out the food and plaque, thus reducing the risk of decay. Teeth are at the greatest risk of decay when they first erupt in the mouth. Regular dental visits with your dentist or hygienists will let you know if and when your child's teeth are candidates for sealants. Sealants are most often applied to the permanent molars and premolars in a fast and pain free way. Sealants last longest if a child has good oral hygiene and visits the dentist regularly.

What are Dental Sealants?Dental sealants are a great way to protect your child's permanent teeth from cavities. Dental sealants are a clear and protective coating that is applied to the biting surfaces of the back teeth. The sealant protects the tooth from getting a cavity by shielding against bacteria and plaque. Sealants are most commonly placed on children's permanent back teeth because they are more prone to cavities. We are happy to inform you that our Dental Sealants are BPA (Bisphenol A) free. Yay!
