Dr. Stacey Hall, Dr. Tim Johnston, Dr. Ray Henley, and Dr. Steve Stensland are all Graduates of the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry. Because of our similar backgrounds, you'll find we have established a dental practice of unique harmony.
Dr. Tim Johnston founded our practice in 1989, the same year he graduated from the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry. "Opening a brand new practice and building it from the ground up allowed me to develop the high quality and high tech type of practice that I knew I wanted, and my patients would appreciate." Committed to the value of education, Dr. Johnston now teaches in the clinic at the School of Dentistry one day each week. He was awarded the part-time faculty of the year award by the graduating classes of 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006. When he's not teaching or practicing, Dr. Johnston, his wife and three children enjoy boating on the Chickahominy, skiing (water and snow!) and taking part in all that Williamsburg has to offer. Dr. Johnston is a member of: American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Peninsula Dental Society, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentists. Dr. Johnston holds a Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. Dr. Johnston is a graduate of the prominent Misch Implant Institute, regarded as one of the premier teaching facilities in implant dentistry. In 2000 Dr. Johnston was inducted as a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, a prestigious award representing a serious commitment to Continuing Dental Education and a well rounded practice. In May, 2001 Dr. Johnston was inducted into Omicron Kappa Uplison, the National Dental Honor Society, recognizing contributions and achievements in advancing the art, science and literature of dentistry. Dr. Johnston also speaks on practice management, writes articles on clinical techniques and practice management, and has been published internationally.
Dr. Ray Henley also graduated from the MCV School of Dentistry in 1989. After graduation, he was commisioned as a Captain in the United States Army, where he was accepted into their Advanced General Dentistry Residency. After nearly 6 years, he left the Army to open a private practice in Yorktown. During the next five years he also served at the Virginia Beach Public Health Dental Clinic, and as an Adjunct Professor for Old Dominion University School of Dental Hygiene and Assisting. Dr. Henley states: "The new mellenium brought changes, challenges and opportunities in both my personal and professional life," referring to Dr. Henley joining Dr. Johnston's Practice in Williamsburg, and helping his wife Judy raise their two young sons. When Dr. Henley isn't working or chasing after his boys, he can usually be found pounding out a beat on his drums. Having played the drums since childhood, he is now the drummer and singer for "Flat Elvis", a local band comprised mostly of dentists. Dr. Henley is a member of: American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Peninsula Dental Society .
Dr. Stacey Hall is a 2002 graduate of the MCV school of Dentistry. While a senior dental student there, she completed an externship in Advanced Oral Surgery techniques, and completed a summer fellowship in Oral Pathology. Before entering MCV, Dr. Hall graduated with honors (Magna Cum Laude) from Virginia Tech, with a double major in Chemistry and Human Nutrition, Foods & Excercise. Dr. Hall is a member of: American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Virginia Dental Association, and Peninsula Dental Society. Dr. Hall and her husband Michael are natives of Hampton Roads, with strong family ties in the area, and now two daughters of their own. An avid football fan, when she's not practicing, Dr. Hall can probably be found tailgating at a Virginia Tech or Redskins football game.
Dr. Steve Stensland also earned his DDS degree from MCV, following a double major in Biochemistry and Chemistry at Virginia Tech. While attending dental school, he worked for a year in the department of Orthodontics at MCV. He also taught Organic Chemistry for two years for the Princeton Review. As a senior dental student, Dr. Stensland founded a preceptorship program at the Vetrans Administration hospital in Atlanta, GA. He and his wife Lynann live in Williamsburg. Dr. Stensland is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, Virginia Dental Association, and Peninsula Dental Society.
